Another nightmare inducing anthology masterpiece.

A couple of the shorter stories I felt ended abruptly, but upon a quick re-read, I realized that they didn't. They ended the only way they could, a sometimes tragic and most of the time horrifying end. I am a bit rusty with notation, so I didn't make individual notes for each story. But from what I remember: Tombs. This felt almost murder mystery atmosphere, but in reverse, and of course, the natural horror that comes along with cracking open any of Junji Ito's works. It had twisted turns that I did not see coming, but the end seemed a bit obvious. Clubhouse. This story reminds me of why I prefer to make guys as friends, and not girls... I jest. This was definitely disturbing, and makes you want to stay away from abandoned buildings. Slug girl. Slug girl was probably my favorite, partially, because I like slugs and snails, but while it was short, it was oh so good. The window next door. This one I felt ended a bit abruptly, but the pacing through the story itself was spot on. Washed ashore. No comments other than it was good. The strange tale of the tunnel. Other than making me want to explore a tunnel that I shouldn't, again, no comment. A very good story. Bronze Statue. This was another odd story that I felt had a murder mystery vibe to it. Also, a perfect example of how gossip is not good for people. Floaters. This story as a whole was very good, but I thought the characters were odd, they seemed to have 2/3 modes, either manic or melancholic, or both. And another good example of how dangerous gossip can be to people's mental well-being. The Bloody Story of Shirosuna. This was probably my second favorite story in Tombs. Shirosuna was very intriguing, but I felt bad for the doctor, he deserved better in the end. He just wanted to help. Apologies for not giving a brief run-down of each story, but I didn't want to make this review super long. All I can say is if you like horror, suspension, mystery, or just general edge of your seat reading, then I highly recommend Tombs.
