9/11 and Home

Welcome to the web page for "9/11 and Home". My book. My first, and by far best yet, "book." There are more on the way actually, but lets all enjoy this one for now. Its pretty substantial, if I do say so myself. Thats not hubris. No, Ill stand by that, it is "substantial." Read it and see for yourself. I thought about adding one of those stupid "colon-parentheses" smily-faces there, after bragging that it wasnt "hubris," but thats just silly. Or "hackneyed." Its something. "Stupid" maybe? No matter. Just read it. People I didnt even expect to like it (i.e. people that "just dont like all that cussing"), liked it. Loved it! Read it. Its set in 9/11 America--Newark actually, for Gods sake--but its not a 9/11 book like any youve seen. Of course, there arent many such books that dont focus entirely on heartbreak, conspiracy, politics, survival, and all of that--certainly interesting, but enough already--stuff. People have apparently been, for lack of a better word, "scared" to write about 9/11 in any other sense because of, I can only assume, the deeply emotional subject-matter and reach of it all. But cmon! Its about time for a book about the rest of us schmucks who werent valiant rescuers, unfortunate victims, or even more unfortunate family/friends of rescuers or victims. What its really about is the classic question in situations "like this" (not that there ever was a situation "like this"), i.e. "where were you, what were you doing, and what ridiculous assortment of people did you happen to be with when you heard about, saw on tv, or (like me) witnessed it?" Thats it. And believe you me, everyones got a story. Great stories! I bet yours is pretty good too. Mine was essentially this: went to Newark on September 10, 2001 on a day-trip to meet with a witness; that nights flight home cancelled due to whether; next mornings flight cancelled because of--oh by the way, 9/11!; witnessed first tower fall across New York harbor from gate area, watched second fall from hotel window; stranded at hotel without luggage or medical supplies for a week; met an amazing array of people and had a jillion crazy things happen to me. But it was those people I experienced it with that were the real story. Amazing, funny, sad, crazy, mean, strange people. Anyway, buy it. Seriously. I can at least guarantee you this: youve never read anything like it. Read it, enjoy it and, more importantly, recall your particular experience with that unbelievable series of crazy, horrible events we ALL shared. All. Everyone on earth. All of us. Hmmm? How bout that? That really IS something, isnt it? Recall all of the story-telling with your friends, workmates, and strangely-now-more-familiar American "strangers" over the days, weeks, and months that followed. Man do I have some stories. Theyre in this book, by the way, so READ IT. Everyone whos read 9/11 and Home thus far (a lot, by the way, for some reason) apparently loves it. Loves it. It is quite funny, Im told. But youll cry too. And youll think. Thats always good. Always. So buy it, enjoy it, and let me know what you think. Thanks, Mark
