Swift and thrilling

This book is intense. As the basis for the movie Die Hard 2, this book has an outstanding premesis. The hero is a normal cop trying to get his young daughter down safely as terrorists have taken control of the tower for the airports in the Tri State area during one of the worst blizzards ever. The story takes many different turns then the movie and can easily be stated as different. But the book moves swifter then any other book I have read. I can't say why, maybe it's the clock-is-ticking kind of suspense, maybe the action, maybe the characters that the story focuses on, but the book moves at a rapid pace. Thankfully, intelligence is not given up for speed. The book is smart and well thought out. Envioroment, lack of knowledge of the terrorists and dwindling time make this book exciting. Don't look for deep emotions or higher meanings, this book is about one cop in the middle of chaos, keeping his cool and staying focused while he tries to keep his daughter, and everyone else flying above, from getting killed.

This book was a real thrill. I often reread it myself whenever I'm bored. Mr. Wagner did an exceptional job with this novel. The intrigue, action, and events are well " spread out ". For all you DIE HARD 2: DIE HARDER fans out there, this is a must. I also recommend NOTHING LASTS FOREVER, by Roderick Thorpe. His novel was the basis for the original DIE HARD.
