First Review

I think the book was a good preview of saints' life. I was given the book as a present, however, I do admit the stories of their lives are a little too gruesome for the average middle school students or even high students as they do require guidance from an mature and understanding adult(s). I thoroughly enjoy the book as they are stories of love, faith, and courage.

Another great resource for learning about the Saints

This is the new revised version featuring 57 stories aimed at older elementary and middle school readers. Each story highlights a saint or related saints in a short-story format. The stories are organized chronologically and include biographical information and the saints' feast day. Many stories also include wonderful illustrations of the profiled saints. The stories are written in lively, accessible language and each conclude with a summary thought or reflection.

Revised version is a great resource

I wanted to let readers know that I just purchased a copy of the newest edition of this book (2006) and the chapter on St. Maria Goretti has been removed. The sister at the bookstore where I bought the book said told me it has been completely revised and edited to be suitable for a younger audience. I have found the book to be a great resource for kids in the 8-12 year range. Just make sure to get the 2006 edition!

A saint book unlike any other!

Anyone who wants to know and love the saints more, but does not want to read fifty-seven different books will find this book a treasure beyond belief! We own many books about saints, but we keep coming back to this one. There are stories about those familiar favorites such as St. Paul and St. Francis of Assisi. Also, there are lesser-known saints, such as St. Peregrine and St. Dymphna. These are often hard to find information about, especially on a child's level. The book is full of details and very well written. The stories are engaging and make you feel like you are there. Luckily each saint is covered in only five to ten pages, because the children would not want to stop until the story is finished. This is truly our favorite saint book. We highly recommend it!
