Book Overview

A prison wagon of caged killers means hell on wheels for Cuno Massey... Cuno Massey is determined to start a new, peaceful life. But when he comes across a prison wagon under attack, he can't just ride on. A gang of outlaws is hell-bent on granting four hardened convicts an early release, and with two other lawmen down, the marshal is badly outnumbered. Dispensing frontier justice from the barrel of his Colt .45, Cuno does his best to even the odds...

CUNO MASSEY: A BLOODY PURSUIT ACROSS WYOMING TERRITORY

Five REMARKABLE Stars! But who is pursuing whom? With enough 'face-offs' and 'showdowns' to satisfy any 'Western' fan, Peter Brandvold drops us right in the middle of tangled relationships in Wyoming Territory of the Old West. The writing is terrific, written in the vernacular of the times, with atmospheric word pictures, and many colorful characters. The star-crossed young hero Cuno Massey has a fateful meeting with lawmen transporting 4 prisoners to their hanging in Crow Feather. As fate would have it & against his wishes, the towheaded, 22 year old Massey becomes involved in the plot, while a cold-blooded villain repeatedly attempts to 'spring' these prisoners who are carrying a secret. This becomes a bloody and desperate pursuit thru the Mexican mountains with Massey forced to show his expertise with his .45 caliber "Widow Maker" and his Remy, although he only wants peace and a decent job. But the closest people to Massey have already been murdered in previous editions of the ".45 Caliber" novels and he has already exacted payment in .45-Caliber Revenge, so Cuno is now a very dangerous & resourceful young 'hombre'. Caution: much blood and gore amid some great Western writing with many twists and turns. My Highest Recommendation. Five COMPELLING Stars! (Notes: I have recently discovered Peter Brandvold also writes the Yakima Henry series under the pen name Frank Leslie. This review is based on an Kindle iPhone download. The author is encouraged to enable "Text-to-Speech" in future Kindle editions for transitional reading; read at home, listen in the car.)
