Delightful Book, Somewhat Misleading Title

365 GAMES BABIES PLAY is a delightful little book. Overall, I am glad I picked it up. WHAT I LIKE: - LOTS OF IDEAS Many different activities are suggested. If you have time to browse through the book, you will get some great ideas. - GOOD DESCRIPTION: Most activities clearly list the age for which they are suggested and the materials needed, which is very helpful. THINGS THAT VEX ME: - ORGANIZATION: There is no simple way to flip through the book to see activities suggested for your baby at a particular age (say, birth to six months). Activities are arranged by categories (bedtime, floor time, water activities, etc.) and each of those may have activities for babies at many ages. There is no index. - AGE RANGE: The subtitle says birth to 15 months, but some of these activities are not appropriate to those ages. For example, I found "Make a Potty Book (18-24 months)," "Pick Up Sticks (18 months and up)" and "Getting Dressed (18 months and up)." - NOT EVERYTHING HERE IS A GAME! I was expecting a book full of games and activities. This is for more of a general parenting book that I expected. You may be surprised to find "activities" such as "Allergy Free," which talks very briefly about removing potential allergens from baby's bedroom and is part of an entire section called Baby's Room. Another game listed is "Doctor/Parent Relationship." There's a whole section on Child Care/Play Groups with things like a checklist for hiring a babysitter. Nice to know, but not what I expected in a book of games baby play. One disadvantage to covering topics like this in this format is that the authors go into less depth on topics that deserve it. I think as long as you are expecting what you get, you'll enjoy the book, and there are many good ideas for play in it. Thumbs up!
