A good choice

This compact book contains activities for kids 12 months and up, 18 months and up, 24 months and up, and 30 months and up. It is color coded by age group to make flipping to the right age group easy. The activities are admittedly simple (not a "Martha Stewart for mothers" activity book), but that is what makes them a cinch to pull together on a moments notice and with few, if any, non-household supplies. Some of the activities are Montessori-esque in nature, with the child exploring science concepts on a tray, others are just a song and fingerplay, or a recommended outing and activity. All of them are geared towards skill-building for that age group (i.e., hand-eye coordination, vocabulary, math and science concepts). Although some of the activities are somewhat obvious (teaching your child to wave goodbye) or not true activities at all (advice on extra transition time to ease separation anxiety) there are still enough creative ideas to make the book worth buying. All in all, I think this was a good choice.

Helpful, but not rocket science

This book has quite a few good ideas and a few that don't really work for everyone. And the 365 ideas is misleading, because the activities range from 12 months to 30 months and up. And that is more than a year, so technically, there isn't an activity for every single day! That being said, I must say that a few ideas in this book have helped us get through several long afternoons at home!

Best Book

I purchased this book looking for some ideas to do with my toddler. This book is laid out so well, we can just grab it and instantly find what we are looking for. There is a great variety of music, singing, art, and thinking games. Best of all, most of the items were things that were at home and didn't cost money to do or make. This book has made our house so much more fun especially on rainy days.

Fun for the kiddies on rainy afternoons

I sent this book to my granddaughter to share with her three little girls. Recently, her seven-year-old was asked by a neighbor to be a mother's helper for her two toddlers. My great-granddaughter immediately reached for the Gymboree book as something she would use to entertain her little charges.
