Great Book

This was a great book. It really lets you see it from the cat's perspective. I read it last night and my cat is more respontive. It gave clues about cat's body language and how to talk to them. I strongly recommend this book. :)

Well-written, practical advice.

I thought this was a wonderful book full of practical advice. The author's views and advice are definitely on the protective side (as you would expect from the founder of PETA!), but they are supported with anecdotal evidence, and I think most pet owners will agree with her cautions after reading this book. The author uses heart-breaking true stories to illustrate many of her points. They are tenderly written, yet retain a sense of humor and practicality. I found this to be a welcome change from most (useful) pet books, which tend to be dry, fact-filled references.I may not be prepared to cook my cats vegan meals from scratch, but I still appreciated and enjoyed this book.

For the Compassionate Cat Lover

Direct, unapologetic and funny, Ingrid Newkirk asks cat lovers to look at their behavior and create a more compassionate relationship with their companions. She provides useful and humane methods to ensure a safe and healthy environment. She does NOT perpetuate the myth that a cat's dietary source of protein must come from animal sources. Most of all she brings awareness to those that have good intentions but miss the mark. Her love and respect for these creatures is evidenced and genuinely felt. One reads of her accounts laughing often at the idiosyncracies that endear cat people. A definite must have for a cat's human.

A wonderful book; funny, entertaining, and very informative

This book taught me how to understand the language that cats use in communicating with each other and with humans. Although I've shared my home with cats nearly all my life, I've been oblivious to the body language that is now so obvious, once I knew what to look for. I also found the book to be a good guide to health-related topics. So many people take risks with their cats' health by choosing the wrong kinds of food, litter, etc., or by not knowing how to choose the right vet, and they also miss a lot of opportunities to help their cats enjoy life more and to have a bit of intellectual stimulation, if I can put it that way. This book is the first one I've seen that deals with these topics in such a practical way. Her writing style is also very funny. I really like the stories she includes and her turn of phrase. I hope to see more from her.

Funny, readable, useful.

Written in an amusing way, I found truly helpful tips that could actually save a cat's life and certainly make both of you very happy. A plus.Jbzepko@sj.bigger.net
