really good facts and a lot of new information in this one. Has all the standard weapons , plus some that are really rare. Perfect for all collectors like myself. Highly recomment this one.

Great reference

A must own reference text for gun collectors. It is a detailed guide of make, model, caliber and potential value. It has most manufactured firearms from more than 150 years ago from all over the globe.

A 'must' reference for any avid firearms collector

What does the newly updated 16th edition of the classic STANDARD CATALOG OF FIREARMS get you that differs from past editions? There are more model entries, more pricing data, and more photos: over 1,500 pages packed with detail. All prices have been updated for collectible firearms made between 1838 and 2005, over 600 new entries added, and photos over 7,000 firearms packed in - there's even a 16-page color section on museum-quality antique firearms from around the world. With its serial number lists to help avoid fakes, this 16th edition is a 'must' reference for any avid firearms collector. Diane C. Donovan, Editor California Bookwatch

Seems very detailed.

The book is very detailed. The loads of pictures helped me confirm the items were properly identified. I looked up about 12 very specific items. There was only one item I could not find a listing for. The item was a very old shotgun. I doubt any single book could be considered complete but this one seems to come close.

Illustrations Greatly Help in Identification of Rare Guns

The only complaint that I have about price guides like this one is that the guns that I want to buy are priced too high, and the ones that I might be agreeable to sell are priced too low. More seriously, although this book is fifteen hundred pages long, it's still too short to cover all the guns that have been produced. In a lot of areas of the more collectable guns, it simply has to say go consult a specialty book on the subject, or get an expert apprasial, and beware of fakes. To its credit, it is profusely illustrated. And this is a very good point in trying to identify guns that are a bit unusual. For instance, the Webley and Scott semi automatic pistols are identified with ten photographs. This is not a common gun seen in the U.S. (and my Model 1913 Royal Horse Artillery model with stock is the one that is underpriced - but how do you price a gun that the one I have is the only one I've ever seen in lots of years of gun shows) and all these pictures help to make sense out of their product line.
