Roger's eccentric, junk-collecting friend Kenneth takes him on an awesome undersea ride in a homemade submarine. Their visit to an underwater cavern turns up a wonderful surprise: a cache of valuable baseball cards
This book was a very, very good book for kids and grown-ups!

I thought this book was great because there was a little comedy. The characters do funny things. For example, when Roger does the Hokey Pokey in front of mermaids, it is funny. People who have a good imagination would like the book. The ship in this book was made of junk. Whiz kids might like to make a model of it and they would enjoy reading the book.
great story

Hi: I run a home-day-care. All the boys at around 1st to 3rd grade level have really ejoyed this book. Great for getting the boy reading that isn't showing much interest. It is more about adventure and fun than about baseball. You will be disappointed in the book if you are getting it only because it says baseball cards. It is a great adventure when an older man and a young boybecome friends and they go under the sea to the man's special underwater treasure room. Very imaginative.
educational as well as fun

This book was perfect for my 6 year old son. It taught him about the importance of starting a hobby and the value it has to him and to others. More importantly, it was a book that I did not have to beg him to read. He wanted to learn how to read it himself. It has Baseball. It has Submarines. It has Mermaids. What more can you ask from a book.

My brother is 7, and LOVES baseball. I read this book to him 8 times, before we had to give it back to the library. He cried for almost an hour. Now, I can finally buy it for him.
