Drills for all aspects of play, including: warm-up, setting, serve and serve-receive, passing and digging, attacking, blocking, combination and transition, six-on- six and more.
I am a new head coach of a High School Varsity program and I needed something I could quickly reference when I saw my team or a team in my program struggling with a part of the game. Not only is it wonderful for planning my own practices, but it has been easy to share with my JV and Freshman coaches when they needed help with certain skills. I would recommend this book to anyone struggling to keep practices engaging and fresh for their team.
Many Drills

I use many of these drills for my Freshman and JV teams. A lot of them are too complicated for this level but would proabably be good for advanced club teams, varsity and college. This is a good resource for coaches at all levels.
Drills, drills, and more drills

Coach Martin is a hoot. I had the pleasure of sitting in a session in a coaches seminar where she was one of the featured speakers. She is energetic, smart, entertaining and knows a whole lot about volleyball. She is the head women's coach at Central Missouri Stat U and has been there since forever. The problem is that it is really difficult to translate all that she embodies into a book. Don't get me wrong, the drills are awesome and they are presented nicely, but that is what you would expect from a drill book. But, the sense of fun, the way she conveys the knowledge, that is kind of lost in the translation. The main thing I like about this is that the skill level progresses with each drill. So if you are dying for some new drills, here is a bunch, but make sure that they suit your needs. Another good point is that these drills are easily adaptable, so it is easy for coaches to change them to fit their own needs.I just wish they could package Coach Martin's dynamic personality and enthousiasm into a book. Oh well....
You can never have enough drills!

Peggy Martin's book has been a valuable addition to my arsenal of drills, because I believe a coach can never have access to too many drills. It's important for players to get a feel for a skill by attacking it in a number of different ways, and using several drills in sequence allows players to continue working on the skill without getting bored, which is important to the learning process. Adding Peggy Martin's "101 Volleyball Drills" to my library has helped keep my high school players on task without putting their minds to sleep.
