Good tips

This book basically gives you the best of various diet plans. Some of the tips give suggestions for healthy snacks, and others just give common sense ideas for losing weight. It's the type book you pick up and start reading anytime, anywhere...just pick a page, and you'll get some good ideas. I actually enjoyed it enough to buy a second copy - for a friend who is also health conscious. This is one I would highly recommend for anyone seriously considering trying to lose weight!

The only weight-loss book most people will need to read

If you're looking for a book that explains simply and concisely how to lose weight, and keep it off, this book is for you. Dr. Stutman debunks some of the latest fad diets (e.g. Atkins, South Beach, etc.), while at the same time giving you the skinny on the only proven way to permanent weight loss. The cornerstone of this book is straightforward and simple: for permanent weight loss, you have to eat healthful, nutritious foods AND burn off the extra calories with exercise. There is really no way to escape this fact, and Dr. Stutman does an excellent job of explaining in further detail what specifically you can do to: a.) improve your diet, and b.) get the appropriate level of exercise to keep the weight off. There's a lot of good information and tables in this book. Also, the fact that it condenses this information within 100 Tips makes it easy to pick-up and read at your leisure. In fact, you don't need to read the book in any particular order. However, keep in mind that there will necessarily be some points that are repeated over and over again as a result (but I found this to be helpful in reinforcing what I've already learned). Overall, I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

A Practical guide to Reducing Weight

I am overweight and I needed a book that, in simple language, will guide me on the appropriate strategies to bring me to "normal" weight. After an exhaustive search, I came across this book and I have never regretted my decision to buy it. I found the book easy to read and follow and the tips really make sense. I then went about implementing the advice given and it works for me. The book does not suggest quick fix solutions that often do not work and disappoint you but rather provides a methodical approach on what to eat and not to eat, how to effectively burn the fat through simple exercises like walking. The book also dispels many diet and exercise fallacies. The only drawback with the book is that the author repeats himself often. This is not a major problem, however, as the repetition serves to remind the reader of the main points highlighted before. Well, I have managed to lose 4 Kg in the past six weeks and I am on target to lose an extra 8 Kg to bring me to a normal, healthy weight with minimal risk of weight related diseases such as high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease or diabetes.

A practical, straight-facts health guide for all Americans

Diet, nutrition, and exercise expert Fred Stutman, M.D. presents 100 Best Weight-Loss Tips, a compendium that distills vital information to bite-sized bits for anyone striving to reach and maintain a healthy weight. From warning against common myths such as "Running and strenuous aerobic exercies are the best way to lose weight" (in fact, walking andmoderate exercises burn fat during the first two-thirds of the workout, while strenuous exercises burn carbohydrates during the first two-thrids of the workout and fat during the last one-third), to the severe health dangers of low-carb diets, to why one should weigh oneself weekly instead of daily (there is often a "plateu" period where weight gain levels off - and it's unwise to trigger either the urge to celebrate with daily decreases, or the depressive tendency to give up if one's weight doesn't immediately decrease). A highly recommended, practical, straight-facts health guide for all Americans.
