Intense mental effort required

If regular and intense mental activity is a preventive of Alzheimer's, then this book could be a significant component of a preventive program. Provided you don't throw it out of the window in frustration first. My main point of difficulty was with the word puzzles, a sequence of words is given, followed by a list of choices for the next word. Some of the criteria were the first letters of the months of the year, the number and sequence of vowels, the number and sequence of consonants, and the number of syllables. It took some time to get into the proper frame of mind to tackle these puzzles. My initial frustration was high, but after a few trials and errors, I was able to solve some of them. It is also arguably possible for another solution to sometimes exist. Other puzzles in the collection are constructed from a set of diagrams, where the task is to determine which one is inconsistent with the others. Once again, it is sometimes possible to argue for another solution and these problems can be solved by a systematic examination of the individual characteristics. If you are a fan of puzzles, this book will amuse you and exercise your mental muscles.

this book has many interesting logical/mathematical games that anyone can enjoy. The games range from hard to pretty easy for anyone. I would recommend this book for anyone who is looking for some challending yet interesting math problems.
