This book is about discovering the heart and soul of the land of Israel. This discovery does not necessarily have to include the typical pilgrimages and traditional "holy sites". The conviction behind the book is that the inherent attractiveness of Israel can only be fully experienced with the maximum use of one's senses - like feeling the pulse of remote paths in the forests and wilderness areas, hearing the sounds of an Israel market and tasting and touching the things that add to the life-spice of this land. Against this background, what is offered here, are the details of no less than 100 short and relaxing walking routes, each one covering a distance of around 2 to 3 kilometers, on average. The description for each walk includes two maps, distances, difficulty levels, directions, coordinates for easily finding the starting points, and to the point anecdotes and fun facts. The aim is quite simply to see the natural beauty of the land - the great number of forests, mountains, rock formations, caves, ancient ruins, archeological discoveries, stunning views, the great variety of trees, plants and flowers, the wild and bird life, the renowned desert areas, rivers, springs and waterfalls, and much more.

With this very handy tool in one's hand, it is possible to just get out there, and start enjoying everything that the extremely versatile country of Israel has to offer! All of this, without wasting time in search of suitable places to visit, or the possibility of getting lost while setting out to walk through an unknown area! John Wahl is a keen hiker, a frequent visitor to the land of Israel, an organizer of tours to Israel and a Biblical Teacher by profession, for the past 35 years, with a Masters degree in Theology. What motivated him to become involved in this project, more than anything else, was the desire to use a very basic activity, like walking, to bring about a greater awareness of what this land is all about. In the process of his involvement in this project, he realized that Israel is not so much a "holy" land, but rather a land that is "wholly" different from any other land - beautiful to see and fun to explore!
