It all started like a typical old-school boys' love plotline-bad-boy senior meets adorably awkward underclassman, one of them falls in love, and so on and so forth. But although Miyano is a self-proclaimed boys' love expert, he hasn't quite realized...he's in one himself. Which means it's up to Sasaki to make sure their story has a happily ever after...
Sasaki and Miyano Volume 1 (Sasaki and Miyano Bonding Over BL Manga)
Published by C.M. Bishop , 1 year ago
Before I read the books, I watched the anime, and I fell in love with the characters and story. I love how sweet and cheerful Sasaki’s voice is when talking to Miyano in the show. If you watch it, you can hear when Sasaki changes his tone of voice when talking to Miyano compared to everyone else.
Anyway, getting back to the book, it was fantastic; I enjoyed it. The delinquent upperclassman, Sasaki, and the adorable underclassman, Miyano, first meet when a fellow classmate is beaten down by three bullies. Sasaki breaks up the fight, and Miyano accompanies the bruised student to the nurse’s office. Ever since then, Miyano can’t shake Sasaki. Sasaki wants to spend all his time with Miyano and learn all about his hobbies and likes—which happens to include reading BL manga. The two grow closer during their little private BL discussions.
Miyano doesn’t mind having a friend he can discuss his interests with, but Sasaki’s interests goes beyond the books. Over time, Sasaki discovers that he’s becoming very interested in Miyano. He even reaches the point of asking Miyano on a date. But will Miyano answer like in a BL manga? Oh, I don’t want to leave out the awesome friends that Sasaki and Miyano have—Hirano, Kuresawa, and Tashiro. In this volume, there are glimpses of their personalities. As the story progresses, these side characters will also begin to develop their stories.
Overall, this is an enthralling series. I can’t wait to read the rest. Shou Harusono is an artist for creating a perfect blend of character development, narrative, and artistic scenes.
