There are a lot of exciting book adaptations coming to the screen right now. We're excited to watch, but first we want to read, because, as we all know, the book is (almost) always better. Here are fifteen of the latest, greatest book-to-screen adaptations. Order your copy of the source material so you can read before you watch.

Society of the Snow: The Definitive Account of the World's Greatest Survival Story by Pablo Vierci

Streaming now on Netflix

In 1972, a Uruguayan Air Force flight carrying a team of young rugby players, their families, and friends crashed in the Andes mountains. The survivors created a society of their own and fought for survival as they spent 72 days in the snowy wasteland. A real-life Yellowjackets! The cast of the award-winning film is composed of up-and-coming Uruguayan and Argentine actors.

Fool Me Once by Harlan Coben

Streaming now on Netflix

Former special ops pilot Maya, home from the war, sees an unthinkable image captured by her nanny cam while she is at work: her husband, Joe—who was brutally murdered two weeks earlier—visiting their two-year-old daughter. Can she trust her own eyes? The eight-part British series takes place in the U.K. as opposed to the American setting of the novel.

The Lord God Made Them All by James Herriot

All Creatures Great and Small's fourth season is airing on PBS now

The newest season of this winning adaptation of Herriot's beloved series takes place as World War II rages in Europe. With Tristan Farnan enlisted in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, his brother Siegfried struggles to keep the household in order. Meanwhile, James and Helen try to decide if they want to start a family, and the addition of new characters lends drama to the proceedings.

The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee

Expats is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video

In the glittering city of Hong Kong, expats arrive daily for myriad reasons. Amidst this hothouse atmosphere, a tragic incident causes three American women's lives to collide in ways that will rewrite every assumption of their privileged world. Nicole Kidman, Ji-young Yoo, and Jack Huston star in the six-part miniseries directed by Lulu Wang.

Strangers by Taichi Yamada

All of Us Strangers is in theaters now

This 1987 novel tells the story of an Isolated screenwriter finding romance with a man from his apartment building. One evening, he is drawn back to his childhood home where he discovers both his parents living just as they were on the day they died thirty years earlier. This adaptation, starring Andrew Scott, Paul Mescal, Claire Foy, and Jamie Bell changes the setting from Japan to Britain.

Echo: the Saga of Maya Lopez by David W. Mack

Echo is streaming now on Disney+ and Hulu

The newest series in phase five of the MCU follows Maya Lopez, aka Echo, as she faces the fallout of her ruthless behavior in New York City. Returning to her hometown in Oklahoma, Maya reconnects with her Native American heritage. The five-episode series, starring Alaqua Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio has been well-received by critics.

Masters of the Air by Donald L. Miller

Streaming now on Apple TV+

This riveting history chronicles the lives of the American bomber boys in World War II who brought the war to Hitler's doorstep. The narrative takes readers on a harrowing ride through the fire-filled skies over Berlin, Hanover, and Dresden. The fictionalized series, produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, stars Austin Butler, Callum Turner, and Anthony Boyle.

The Tiger's Apprentice by Laurence Yep

Streaming now on Paramount+

This middle-grade fantasy centers on a boy whose life is changed forever when he meets a magical talking tiger and discovers that he has powers of his own that come with great responsibilities. Setting out with a ragtag band of creatures, he joins their fight to keep an ancient talisman out of the hands of the worst possible enemy. The new animated adaptation boasts a star-studded cast.  

Argylle by Elly Conway

In theaters now

A Russian magnate's plan to restore his nation to greatness sets off a series of disastrous events. The CIA's legendary spymaster Frances Coffey is on the case. But she needs help. This debut, a globetrotting spy thriller, inspired a star-studded action film, which, in a meta twist, adds an author character (one Elly Conway) who gets caught up in the action.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

Lisa Frankenstein is in theaters now

Shelley's horror masterpiece has inspired endless adaptations, of course. The newest is a horror comedy set in 1989. It follows Lisa, a misunderstood teenage goth who reanimates a dreamy corpse from the Victorian era using her broken tanning bed. An unusual, but sweet, romance ensues. The script, written by Diablo Cody, promises retro, screwball antics.

One Day by David Nicholls

Streaming now on Netflix

15th July 1988: Emma and Dexter meet for the first time on the night of their graduation. Tomorrow they must go their separate ways. Over the next twenty years, the true meaning of the relationship and this singular day are revealed. Actress Ambika Mod, starring as Emma, says that the new series will cover more of the novel than the 2011 film adaptation.

The Never Game (Book #1 in the Colter Shaw series) by Jeffery Deaver

Tracker premiered February 11 on CBS

Colter Shaw is a lone-wolf survivalist with expert tracking skills who makes his living as a "reward seeker," traveling the country to help police solve crimes and locate missing persons for private citizens. Hired to track down a young woman who has disappeared in Silicon Valley, Shaw explores the cutthroat billion-dollar video-game industry. The series adaptation stars Justin Hartley

Spider-Man & Madame Web by Dennis O'Neil and John Romita Jr.

Madame Web is in theaters now

Spider-man ally Cassandra Webb (aka Madame Web) possesses incredible future sight that helps the web-slinger thwart a criminal who schemes to take over Peter Parker's employer, the Daily Globe. But when the unstoppable Juggernaut sets out to kidnap her, can our friendly neighborhood hero stand in his way? The film stars Dakota Johnson as Madame Web.

Shogun by James Clavell

Premiering on FX and Hulu February 27

After getting lost at sea, seventeenth-century Englishman John Blackthorne washes up on the shores of feudal Japan. As he confronts unfamiliar cultures and internal political strife, he finds himself torn between two worlds. Previously adapted into a 1980 miniseries, the epic novel is getting a fresh take with a much-anticipated new series.

Dune by Frank Herbert

Dune: Part Two is coming to theaters March 1

Set in the distant future, this sci-fi epic tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding embarking on a treacherous journey through space. Audiences were mesmerized by Part One of the visually stunning adaptation from director Denis Villeneuve and starring Timothée Chalamet. The 1984 adaptation starred Kyle MacLachlan.
