What to Read First: House of Earth and Blood
The Women by Kristin Hannah
From the author of The Nightingale and Firefly Lane comes a new story about women at war. The Women is the story of one woman gone to the Vietnam war, but it shines a light on the story of all women who put themselves in harm’s way to help others. Women whose sacrifice and commitment to their country has all too often been forgotten. A novel of searing insight and lyric beauty, The Women is a profoundly emotional, richly drawn story with a memorable heroine whose extraordinary idealism and courage under fire define a generation.
What to Read First: The Four Winds, Hannah's best seller about love and heroism during the Great Depression.
Dog Man #12: The Scarlet Shredder
Yes, one of our most anticipated titles is a kids' book! Why? Because the Dog Man series has catapulted itself to the top of best sellers lists by reaching kids and giving them a story they love that makes them in turn love reading. The pictures in the book help new readers to connect to the story, which helps build their reading comprehension skills. Plus, kids really cannot get enough of this lovable spinoff of Captain Underpants.
What to Read First: The whole series! #1 is a good place to start.
Funny Story by Emily Henry
Coming in April, Funny Story is a heartwarming, joyful romance about a pair of opposites who meet in an idyllic town after they’ve both suffered a tremendous heartbreak. We can’t wait to read this book because we love the author. Emily Henry has had a string of hits including People We Meet on Vacation and ThriftBooks personal favorite, Book Lovers. One of her trademarks is characters who love to read and love books, and Funny Story continues the tradition with a main character who works in a children’s library.
What to Read First: Beach Read. It includes Henry’s trademark bibliophiles, plus the opposites attract angle.
You Like it Darker: A New Collection of Short Stories from Stephen King
"You like it darker? Fine, so do I," writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life—both metaphorical and literal—and we say “Yes!” King is known as a master storyteller and his knack for short-stories is world-renown. This collection includes 12 tales, a mixture of new and previously unpublished works, that we can’t wait to dive into.
What to Read First: Cujo, King’s classic 1981 tale about a bad dog. King’s new collection will include a sequel-story to Cujo called Rattlesnakes.
