Book Drive for Kids, a 501(c)(3) organization, has a mission to help create a culture of literacy by providing books for disadvantaged children for independent reading.
Book Drive for Kids is a charity that puts books directly into the hands of new, young readers from Title I schools and disadvantaged backgrounds. At their popular book fairs, kids come and get a book of their choice to take home for free, simple as that. Book Drive for Kids has interacted with over 40,000 children since its inception in 2017 at their free book fairs.

More About the ThriftBooks and Book Drive for Kids partnership
The multi-year partnership between Book Drive for Kids and ThriftBooks began with Orion Jean and his 2021 Race to Kindness. When he was only eleven, the TIME 2021 Kid of the Year began a "race" to get 500,000 books donated to kids across the country. ThriftBooks heard about his gallant goal and delivered over 300,000 children's books to the campaign to finish his race. When the time came to figure out what to do with that many books, Book Drive for Kids, a charity that, like Orion Jean and ThriftBooks, calls the Dallas area home, stepped in and stepped up, taking on the large task of getting those books into the hands of young readers over the next year.
ThriftBooks continued this relationship beyond Orion Jean's Race to Kindness. On Giving Tuesday in 2023 and 2021, ThriftBooks donated a percentage of our net revenue to Book Drive for Kids, helping them to arrange more book fairs and other initiatives that get kids reading. ThriftBooks has made sure to have a presence at many of their book fairs since, delighting in the joy on children's faces when they take home the very first book they get to call their own.
