The book did a good job of illlustrating common mistakes that people make when carving duck decoys. It has good information about setting the eyes and ways to do it that will ensure they are correct. There were some tips on gluing up blocks and drying wood in microwave that was helpful. But many of the patterns were for miniatures and the patterns and painting instructions did not seem up to the quality of his other works. There were not very many photographs and many of the plates looked like something you'd find in an amaturish Anthony Hillman book. However, I'm still happy to have the book because LeMaster has done great work in the field of Decoy making.
